Beautiful People - May

Hola Lexicans! I saw Noor link up to this post for the Beautiful People with Cait and Sky, which is a linky for writers to chat about their characters and book and I just had to do it. This month I get to tell you all about one of the main characters from my writing called Indigo. She has two completely opposite sides to her, which should become apparent soon.

How often do they smile? Would they smile at a stranger?

So as I mentioned Indigo has two sides to her; she is that badass, couldn't care less girl at school, but at home her anxiety kicks in and she tries to avoid contact with anyone (besides her younger sister Mia). Either way, you will not see this girl smiling at strangers. What. So. Ever. She does smile at lot at home though, false smiles to her stepdad and rea

What is the cruellest thing they've ever been told? And what was their reaction?

Indigo has been told some pretty tough things, as a writer, the rejection she's got has been very hard but she realises it's just part of being a writer. I think her mum saying about her writing though, that is was pointless and 'what a waste of 4 months on this,' and the following 'its worthless and so are you' from her stepdad' hit Indigo very hard. Her reaction? Tears. And more tears.

What is the kindest thing they've ever been told? And what was their reaction?

Her father's last words, promising he would come back and reassuring she would be fine because his love for her would never cease - even though she knows it isn't true. Her reaction, again was tears. Tears of happiness, and hope.

What is one memory that has stuck with your character from childhood? Why is it so powerful and lasting?

The day her father died, for sure. This is pretty self-explanatory why it's lasting; ultimately, it changed her life - her stepdad came along, and her mother really changed. The support she had got before from her parents really was the support everyone needs, and she lost that. Also, it kick-started her anxiety which has played a big part in Indigo's life.

What book (an actual, real published book) do you think your character would benef
I think Indigo relates a lot to Cath in Fangirl, they both absolutely love writing, and whilst Cath might not have straight-out anxiety and panic attacks like Indigo, she does have a form of social anxiety. Also, they both having a missing parent. I feel if Indigo wouldn't feel so alone.

On a scale from 1 - 10 (1 being easy, 10 being difficult) how hard is it to get along well with your character?
7.
Step 1: Complement her writing.
Step 2: Keep being nice, and always say something positive to her - it will

Well that's it! There's Indigo for ya. There are more questions, but I'll leave them, otherwise this post could get a tad too long. xxx
