Interview with actor in Lord Of The Flies: EXCLUSIVE

Hello Lexicans! A couple of days ago, I went to the Open Air Theatre in Regents Park, to see the premiere performance of Lord Of The Flies! AND, my friend Benedict Barker (Ben) was acting Perceval in the play, so I was lucky enough to get an interview with him!!!!

-----

Hello Ben, great to have you here! Can you describe your character for us?

Perceval is a very neat, innocent prep school boy who thinks all the bad stuff going on is just fun and games. But at the end he joins the hunters and become savage.

What excites you most about this role, what makes it different?

Having to act younger than I am is quite a challenge and I love the uniform we wear.

What are the rest of the cast like?

The rest of the cast are fantastic there funny, interesting and there all over 18 so they pay a lot of attention to me as I'm one of 3 kids in it

What are the similarities and differences between you and Perceval?

Well I go to a prep school as well but I have to say I'm not very neat and I'm 11 and my character is 6 and I don't think I would be as naive as Perceval in that situation.

Benedict Barker.

How are rehearsals going - what do you get up to between practice?

Rehearsals are great but a bit tiring, at our breaks the cast get up to all different types of games: our personal favourite is a game called 'Ninja' which if I explained we would be here for hours!!

What are your future aims for your acting career - would you like to carry on with theatre?

I would love to carry on with theatre but hope to get into some films and TV programmes as well!

There is so much I'd like to say about the play, so watch out for a separate review, coming soon!

  2. Congrats, Benedict! I can sympathize being with an older cast (they are one of the most amazing people to work with) and the games that are played during rehearsal hours are just the best. <3 Break a leg on your following performances!

    xoxo Morning
