Molly Moon's life is dim and horrible in the orphanage Hardwick House and is full of unfair punishments. Other than Rocky and the younger kids nobody likes Molly at all especially not Miss Adderstone (the lady who runs the place) and her favourite child of all Hazel. However one day this all changes when Molly discovers a book all about hypnotism. Studying it hard, Molly soon learns all the tricks leaving glom behind to head for fame and fortune. She spends so much time signing autographs and being photographed that she doesn't realise that she's not the only one wanting that book in her hands.
I adored Molly Moon's Incredible Book of Hypnotism because it has a brilliant plot snapping at you at just the right time. The author, Georgia Byng, describes the hard and the great points of Molly's life and has written a perfect story full of suspense, anxiety, regret, joy and happiness. My favourite character was Molly's best friend Rocky as even after the incident he was still a brilliant friend helping Molly through all her difficult situations using their joint powers to overcome these problems. This book is a must-read for all 7-11 year old girls who enjoy mystery, a little fantasy and some humorous lines. This is the first of the Molly Moon series (there are SIX books in this series with the most recent Molly Moon and the Monster Music). I can't wait to get my hands on some more of these books because Molly Moon is such a brilliant character.
'From the moment I'd started reading this book had hypnotised me so I could NOT stop.' Lexie, What Lexie Loves.
I'd like to say a ENORMOUS thank-you to Beatrice from Macmillan Children's Books for sending me this fantastic book for review.
