Update on my charity: The Pyjama Fund

Hola Lexicans! As some of you may know from a previous post talking about it (which you can read here), a little over a year ago, my sister and I set up a charity called The Pyjama Fund. The Pyjama Fund (or TPF as it'll probably be referred to in this post) is an organisation which provides pyjamas, onesies and soft toys to vulnerable children, like homeless children and refugees, across the UK.

So far, we have sent off five bundles of pyjamas, onesies and soft toys to 4 different charities (which you can read about on our website), but normally what we would do would be to either send the package in the post, or drop it off with one of the volunteers in the charity. However, for the last bundle we did a couple of weeks ago, we actually got the chance to go and meet some of the children that our donations would be going to.

We were sending our donations to Merryfield's a short-term children's home for children with special needs in High Wycombe. We obviously had a vague idea of who we were sending them to, and we had seen photos of other children with their pyjamas, but meeting them was totally different. None of the children we met could speak or talk, but they could hear us and had their own forms of communicating, like feeling someone or using their sense of smell. It was so empowering to see the centre and see how the children are placed in a fun and loving environment. We took a few photos with a couple of the children so I wanted to share them with y'all.

 

So yep, that's what happened when TPF came to visit Merryfield's. It really was a heartwarming thing to meet the children and makes the work we do 1000% more rewarding now we've actually seen and met some of the children we're helping.
